Sanitization & Instrument Intake Protocol

  • Upon arrival your horn will be sanitized by thorough spray down with PREempt RTU Disinfectant (0.5% Hydrogen Peroxide) & left wet for 3 minutes.  We have tested this solution & even Hydrogen Peroxide at 3% (first aid grade) and it does not damage, stain or degrade any finish or metal we’ve soaked it in to the best of our observable knowledge. Per manufacturer's label: “This product is a powerful disinfectant effective against pathogenic viruses.”

  • If your instrument is being dropped off for work that does NOT include an Ultrasonic Cleaning, at this point it will be wiped clean & dry of any excess spray cleaning solution & worked on as requested by a technician wearing 6mil nitrile gloves.

If any play testing is required for your particular repair we may require it also be Ultrasonically cleaned as part of its service visit. This will be discussed & priced accordingly on a case by case basis.

  • The instrument is then completely disassembled, wiped down to remove excess lubricants & submerged in an Ultrasonic Cleaning bath for 4-6 minutes (depending on instrument) filled with UPC 132B Phosphoric Acid & Detergent solution diluted 2 ounces to 1 gallon of water.

  • The instrument is then thoroughly rinsed out with high pressure warm water as well as bore brushed &/or hand-scraped to remove excessive hard debris (when necessary).

  • Then, the instrument is completely dried using compressed air and chamois cloth, re-oiled/greased & reassembled to OEM spec.  Technicians wear 6mil nitrile gloves during the reassembly process to ensure the instrument remains sanitized through completion & back into its case.

  • If a case is left with the instrument, it will also be disinfected upon arrival. Hard shell cases will be wiped down with diluted bleach or hydrogen peroxide on the outside & the interior vacuumed out & sprayed with an aerosol disinfectant (Lysol or similar).  Soft shell cases (such as “gig bags”) will be sprayed on the outside of the case with the same disinfectant as the inside.

Whenever possible, until further notice, we will take in instruments without their cases to minimize the potential exposure of receiving personal property that cannot always be completely sanitized to our satisfaction without risking damage to the various materials cases are made of.
